“WHY I VOTE” EXHIBITION

SPECIAL PRE-ELECTION RECEPTION: FRI, NOV 1 7-9PM

Friday the Art-teenth Artists’ Reception: FRI, NOV 15th 6-8pm

This November, we are hosting a very special and timely exhibition.

Countless suffragists and activists from Alice Paul to Fannie Lou Hamer to Dolores Huerta have fought for voting rights since the early 20th century. In acknowledgment of the continued fight for voter equity, the Women’s Caucus for Art of Greater Washington, DC (WCADC) presents our second “Why I Vote” exhibition. WCADC invites all women artists in DC, Maryland, and Virginia to address the issues that compel us to visit the polls. As artists, we capture the essence of our times and this exhibition conveys a collective visual expression of why voting matters now, in the past, and for the future. We acknowledge the ongoing challenges to our democracy, yet we strive for a more perfect union, embracing diverse perspectives through art.

This exhibition at Compass Gallery will be open from October 30 through November 27. We will host TWO artist receptions: a special Pre-Election Reception on Friday, November 1 from 7-9pm -AND- a Meet The Artists Reception is scheduled for Friday, November 15th from 6-8pm. Food and wine available. Open to the public. Our second reception runs in conjunction with Friday The ART-teenth, Kensington’s new hot night for art in conjunction with Girls Who Paint, Adah Rose Gallery, and The Gallery at Chesapeake Framing.
