INSTRUCTOR: ROBERTO OSTI
In this 2-day workshop, students will learn the essential elements of anatomy for artists that can be applied to the practice of figure drawing. The emphasis of this workshop will be on the aesthetic and dynamic aspects of the human figure. Starting from the structural, layered method developed during the Renaissance and moving on to the expressive aspects of the human figure at rest and in movement, the students will learn to “read” and recognize the body’s structural and anatomical characteristics, allowing the artist to employ an “active” interpretation of the human figure rather than a mimetic or passive one. Each class will begin with a 1-hour lecture followed by a 5-hour figure drawing session with live models, alternating male and female models each day.
